Repositioning THOR Poletest for its next stage of growth.
01Understanding
Thanks for the opportunity to put forward our thinking on this project. We see the potential to reposition THOR from a specialist pole testing technology company to an intelligent, data-rich platform for understanding pole condition. The test remains fundamental, but the value extends into the intelligence it creates. Our role is to translate that data, technology and expertise into a cohesive brand and visual system that tells THOR’s story with clarity and purpose.
02Approach
Building the brand through the work.
We would build THOR’s visual identity through, and at the same time as, the creation of two or three core brand assets already required within the brief. Rather than defining the brand in isolation and then applying it afterwards, these assets become the environments in which we establish the colour, typography, imagery, iconography, data visualisation, messaging and digital behaviour that make up the visual identity. It’s a more agile way of working, allowing the brand to be developed through real-world application, shared early with the wider team and refined as it takes shape. By the end of this first stage, we have both a proven visual identity ready to be codified into the brand specifications and two or three significant project outputs already completed.
03Process
Working Together. THOR and Friday.
When we approach this overall project, we would work as one integrated team, bringing THOR’s technical knowledge and internal expertise together with Friday’s strategic, creative and digital capability. The process would be collaborative and deliberately fluid, with clear stages, regular check-ins and work shared early enough for the wider team to contribute before decisions become fixed. Rather than treating each item in the scope as a separate piece of work, we would look for opportunities to develop them in parallel, allowing thinking, visual language and content to move naturally between the brand, website, video and portal. This keeps momentum high, reduces duplication and gives everyone visibility of how the wider system is taking shape. Throughout the project, priorities can be adjusted as the work develops, while still maintaining a clear view of what is being delivered, what comes next and where decisions are required.
04Scope
Scope of Works
1Visual identity / visual language
Develop the core visual language for THOR across colour, typography, imagery, iconography, digital styling and supporting graphic elements. The system will be built through real project applications, giving us a practical, consistent foundation for web, presentations, LinkedIn, exhibitions and future marketing material.
2Half-minute video, vector-based
Create a 30-second vector-based animation introducing THOR Poletest and visualising how the technology reads a pole internally and turns that data into the portal. The final approach may include the hammer strike, stress waves, Health Index and supporting charts or graphics.
3Website Option 1: Bespoke
Design and develop a bespoke marketing website of approximately 15 pages, with a tailored interface and CMS for ongoing content management. The build would use React, Next.js or a comparable JavaScript framework, giving THOR a fully considered digital expression of the new visual language.
4Website Option 2: Templated
Develop the marketing website using a suitable website engine or theme-based framework, applying the new THOR visual language within a more streamlined build. The site would be structured for straightforward handover and ongoing management by the internal marketing team.
5Videography shoot
Plan and produce a focused studio or location shoot for two edited videos of approximately one to two minutes each. The content will feature the CEO discussing THOR’s new findings and the Engineering Manager explaining the technology, with the production approach shaped around efficiency and impact.
6PHI portal content
Establish the visual direction for the PHI portal across dashboard styling, colour, typography, buttons, cards, navigation, icons and basic data visualisation. One or two representative screen mock-ups will demonstrate how the wider THOR visual language translates into the product interface.
